Le mont Blanc (en italien monte Bianco), dans le massif du Mont-Blanc, entre le département de la Haute-Savoie (France) et la vallée d'Aoste (Italie), objet d'un litige entre les deux pays, est le point culminant de la chaîne des Alpes. Avec une altitude de 4 810,90 mètres, il est le plus haut sommet d'Europe occidentale et le cinquième sur le plan continental en considérant les montagnes du Caucase.

Mont Blanc or Monte Bianco (French and Italian respectively meaning white mountain) is the highest mountain in the Alps and in Western Europe. It rises 4,810 m (15,781 ft) above sea level and is ranked 11th in the world in topographic prominence. It is also sometimes known as "La Dame Blanche" (French, the white lady).

The mountain lies between the regions of Aosta Valley, Italy, and Haute-Savoie, France. The location of the summit is on the French-Italian border but French cartographers place it within France's boundaries on maps. It is claimed by Italian sources that at a convention between France and the Kingdom of Sardinia, in Turin (1861), and in particular on the maps joint to the convention, the border was fixed on the highest point of Mont Blanc, the south east ridge to Monte Bianco di Courmayeur wholly within Italy, and that this was the last official definition of this border.

The two most famous towns near Mont Blanc are Courmayeur, in Aosta Valley, Italy, and Chamonix, in Haute-Savoie, France — the site of the first Winter Olympics. A cable car ascends and crosses the mountain from Chamonix to Courmayeur.

Begun in 1957 and completed in 1965, the 11.6 km (7¼ mi) Mont Blanc Tunnel runs beneath the mountain between these two countries and is one of the major trans-Alpine transport routes.

มงบล็อง (Mont Blanc) ในภาษาฝรั่งเศส หรือ ม็อนเตเบียงโก (Monte Bianco) ในภาษาอิตาลี ตั้งอยู่บริเวณพรมแดนระหว่างประเทศฝรั่งเศสกับประเทศอิตาลี เป็นยอดเขาที่สูงที่สุดในเทือกเขาแอลป์ มีความสูง 4,807 เมตร ทั้ง "มงบล็อง" และ "ม็อนเตเบียงโก" ต่างมีความหมายว่า "ภูเขาสีขาว" สภาพทั่วไปของยอดเขามีร่องรอยการกัดเซาะของธารน้ำแข็ง ยอดเขามงบล็องมีรูปร่างยอดขรุขระ เพราะเกิดจากการโกงตัวของแผ่นเปลือกโลก 2 แผ่นคือ แผ่นเปลือกโลกแอฟริกากับแผ่นเปลือกโลกยูเรเชีย แต่หินบริเวณที่โก่งตัวกลับเป็นหินทรายกับหินปูน ยอดเขาสูงบริเวณเทือกเขาแอลป์จึงสึกกร่อนได้ง่าย จึงเป็นสาเหตุให้ยอดเขาม็องบลังก็มียอดแหลมขรุขระ เพราะโดนสภาพอากาศและธารน้ำแข็งกัดกร่อนมาเป็นเวลานานหลายล้านปี สภาพภูมิอากาศของยอดเขามงบล็องเป็นแบบเมติเตอร์เรเนียน บนยอดมีหิมะปกคลุมตลอดทั้งปี เป็นสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวทางธรรมชาติที่สำคัญของอิตาลีและฝรั่งเศส
